Hi – I’m Edward Bonthrone. Like all the guitars I re-style I make sure I set it up so it is a guitar I want to not only play – but keep! That’s a rule I set for myself since I started for any guitar I customise to ensure that they not only look pretty, but play beautifully too. Accordingly I really hate letting these things out of my site and frankly want to keep them all – but I need to make a living 🙂
If you want to see close-up pics I’ll gladly email them to you (epgb101@gmail.com) so you can get a good idea of what this beautiful customized Beatles guitar looks like.
What is this guitar?
It’s a brand-new machine-made and tooled (which means they are very consistent quality-wise) Fender Squire Bullet guitar which I have dis-assembled, painted and re-assembled and professionally setup so it plays like a $600 custom-shop top of the line Fender guitar. It has a very slightly thinner body than a standard strat so weighs a little less – something I really like about it. Nothing like a paper-light Gibson SG or a super-heavy 70’s strat (I have but never play as it’s uncomfortable) this strat is in my view the perfect weight for stand-up playing and better for younger players too.
Further customisations
You can if you want anytime replace the scratch-plate and pickups on this customised Beatles guitar with more expensive or alternative configuration sets if you want to very very easily – it just requires a little soldering (about 4 wires!).
Please note – I made this as one of my little works of art and whilst it’s perfect to play and gig with and I set it up to play beautifully (neck/nut/bridge/string height/intonation/tremolo/frets/neck finishing) this is a show-piece guitar not specifically intended to go out on the road where things can get rough and especially guitars and their artwork get dents and dings! It’s much better to hang on your wall and pull it off for recording or impressing your friends with your own unique custom guitar which you can’t find anywhere on the web except here!
If you insist on taking it on tour we recommend simply taking the disassembled guitar body to your nearest car detailer/paintshop where for a small fee they will apply two or three layers of super-tough car lacquer to keep your new toy and it’s artwork in mint condition on the road and in transit. However for general use this is not necessary and only recommended to preserve the artwork.
